๐ About Sprite Sheet Splitter
Sprite Sheet Splitter cuts a grid-based sprite sheet into individual frame images. Upload the sheet, enter the number of columns and rows, and click Split frames. Each cell becomes its own PNG, and you can download every frame at once as frames.zip, with files numbered frame-001.png, frame-002.png and so on.
This is useful when an asset pack only ships as a single sheet but your engine or animation tool wants separate images, when you need to inspect or fix one frame, or when you want to reuse a few poses from a larger sheet. Frames are read left to right, then top to bottom, which matches the layout most packs use.
After splitting, a built-in animation preview plays the frames in order, with an FPS slider from 1 to 24 so you can check timing before importing. Frame size is the sheetโs width divided by columns and its height divided by rows; leftover pixels at the edges are dropped, so make sure the sheet has no extra padding. Pixel art stays crisp in the preview, and all processing runs locally in your browser.

โ FAQ
In what order are the frames numbered?
Left to right across each row, starting from the top row, so frame-001.png is the top-left cell.
My frames look shifted or cut off. Why?
The tool assumes an evenly spaced grid with no margins or spacing between cells. Sheets with padding need to be trimmed first, and the column and row counts must match the sheet exactly.
Can I export the animation as a GIF?
No. The preview is for checking timing only; the download contains individual PNG frames in a ZIP file.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. Frames are saved as PNG, so transparent areas in the original sheet stay transparent.
