📝 About Color Extractor

Color Extractor pulls the dominant colors out of an image and shows them as a palette of up to eight swatches with HEX codes. As soon as you add a picture, the tool analyzes it and lists the colors from most to least common, and you can copy the whole palette as a comma-separated list in one click.

It’s useful when you want a website, slide deck or social post to match a photo, when you need to identify a brand’s colors from a logo, or when you’re building a mood board and want concrete color values instead of guesses. Designers often use an extracted palette as a starting point and then adjust contrast for readability.

Under the hood, the image is scaled down and similar shades are grouped together, and each group’s average color becomes one swatch. Mostly transparent pixels are skipped, so logos on transparent backgrounds give cleaner results. Because colors are grouped, a tiny accent may not appear if it covers only a small area. The analysis runs entirely in your browser and the image is not uploaded.

❓ FAQ

Why do I get fewer than eight colors?

Similar shades are grouped together, so an image with only a few distinct colors, like a simple logo, produces a shorter palette.

Can I get RGB or HSL values instead of HEX?

The tool shows HEX codes only. You can paste a code into the Color Converter tool to get RGB and HSL values.

Can I pick the color of a specific pixel?

No. This tool summarizes the image’s overall palette rather than sampling a single point.
