πŸ“ About Text Compare

Text Compare shows the differences between two versions of a text, line by line. Paste the original on the left and the changed version on the right, and the diff appears immediately below: lines that were removed are marked with a minus sign in red, lines that were added are marked with a plus sign in green, and unchanged lines are shown in gray. If both texts are the same, the tool simply tells you they are identical.

It’s a quick way to check what changed between two drafts of a document, spot edits in a contract or terms of service, compare configuration files, or review code without opening a full version-control tool. Translators and editors also use it to confirm that only the intended lines were modified.

The comparison works on whole lines, so if a single word changes, the entire line appears as one removal and one addition. Spaces and capitalization count as differences, which helps catch invisible edits. Very long texts take more time to compare. Both texts stay in your browser and are never uploaded.

❓ FAQ

Does it highlight changed words within a line?

No. The comparison is line-based, so a modified line is shown as the old line removed and the new line added.

Are spaces and capital letters treated as differences?

Yes. Lines must match exactly, so an extra space or a different capital letter marks the line as changed.

Is there a size limit?

There’s no fixed limit, but comparing texts with many thousands of lines can be slow because all processing happens on your device.
